Friends, we have a problem.
For decades, the 1% have been building their own private infrastructure of think tanks, attack groups and media companies to force their interests on everyone else. The signs of their success are everywhere, from a Parliament full of lobbyists to price gouging in the supermarkets. From houses we can’t afford to live in, we sit in traffic jams on our way to bullshit jobs that no longer pay the bills. All the while the people at the top beat the drums of war and strip-mine the natural world into extinction.
To justify or distract from their destructive greed, the oligarchs use these think tanks and media channels to set us against each other in endless culture wars. Every day we’re told to hate immigrants, hate women, hate men, hate trans people, hate First Nations people, greenies, the disabled, old people, young people, poor people, ourselves.
And every day that we’re attacking each other, the plunder of our planet and our future pushes us deeper into a global emergency.
This isn’t just happening on our patch. The signs of slippage from democracy to oligarchy to fascism are evident all over the world.
But so are the signs of resistance.
We are a collective of researchers, activists, artists and shit-stirrers who have had a fucking gut-full and decided to do something about it. We’re calling time on that planet-wide mesh of parasitic think tanks and attack groups who have flooded the airwaves and cooked our politics.
Next time you see some wanker in the media pushing fake research on more fossil fuels, more corporate hand-outs, more tax cuts for millionaires, you’ll be able to put a face to a name:
